Who we are
AAB Research is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: privacy@aab-research.com, 11 Kirkby Close, Cambridge, CB4 1XP, UK.
What we collect
- Your first and last name, email address and, if you provide it, your organisation.
- Whether you agreed to receive marketing emails, which topics you chose, and when you agreed or withdrew.
- When you registered and when you last used the tools.
- A session cookie (
pt_session) that keeps you signed in for up to one year. We use no advertising or analytics cookies. - Anonymous counts of which pages and tools are used. These use no cookies and hold no identifier for you: to avoid counting one visitor twice a day, your IP address and browser type are combined into a short code using a secret that is discarded at the end of each day. Your IP address itself is not stored, and nothing is counted if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
Your sequences are never collected. All primer calculations run in your browser, and no sequence data is sent to our server.
Why we use it
- To give you access to the free tools. We need your registration to provide the service you asked for.
- To send you news about our Gibson assembly products and cloning seminars, but only if you ticked the marketing box (your consent). You can withdraw at any time, either under Preferences after signing in or through the unsubscribe link in any email.
Who sees it
AAB Research staff. We do not sell your data. Registration data is stored on our server hosted by Oracle Cloud in the UK (London region). If we use an email service to send newsletters, it acts on our instructions only.
How long we keep it
We keep your registration for as long as your account is active and for up to 3 years after your last sign-in. After that we delete it. Marketing consent records are kept as long as needed to show that you agreed.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or restrict or object to its use, and you can withdraw consent at any time. To do so, email privacy@aab-research.com. You also have the right to complain to your data-protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
